Jolly Roger Amusement Park

Great park with a little something for everyone. Should have asked if the day pass could be used between the pier park and the other larger park..they have a water and go cart park right next to each other. A bit pricey but one of my kiddos enjoyed himself. The pay to play games are super pricey too. It's to be expected though.

We visited Jolly Rogers with my two kids. One uses a wheelchair and wanted to ride the roller coaster. We got in line and the attendant stopped us and said he had to ask his manager if he could ride. We told him that our children have been on many roller coasters and that it was not a problem. We said a parent would ride and provide transfer from his chair to the coaster. The attendant said well if you read the sign it says "wild". This conversation was not discrete. Other children and parents were present. He called his manager on the phone holding up the line of kids, which caused a larger scene. We explained that we have been to theme parks all over and it is not a problem. The manager arrived and asked if he could stand to get on the ride. He is in a wheelchair. They said we can't be held responsible for any injuries he incurs. At this point other families were telling the park manager and employees that they were being discriminatory to people with disabilities. It is a kiddy ride that lasted less than 30 seconds. We eventually went on the ride after I told the manager to let my son see the coaster in motion and he would confirm if he wanted to ride it. My kids are 16 and 14 years old. We watched the coaster and then decided to ride. It lasted less than 30 seconds. But what lasted the entire evening was the downtrodden feelings that followed the kids during their activity night on vacation. I tried to brighten the mood by leaving and riding the ferris wheel at Trimper. The staff at Trimper was phenomenal. They assisted at the ferris wheel and even helped with the water racing game. They were great! And I can't thank them enough for their attitudes because they had no idea what transpired minutes before. It lightened the mood a bit but the kids decided to go back to the hotel. My kids are very aware of their capabilities and what they feel comfortable doing based on their abilities. As parents we would never put our child in danger. What happened at Jolly Rogers was a reminder to my kids what discrimination feels like, and how it can make you feel less than when that is not the truth at all. Be Better Jolly Rogers. Look to the larger amusement parks and get a policy and a waiver form. Do not make kids feel embarrassed to get on a ride because they may be different. It is unacceptable. We left with $40 on our entry card. It was the worse 40 dollars I ever spent. My son will have people face him his entire life and tell him what they think he can and can not do. He definitely didn't deserve it on vacation at a kiddy amusement park. People that use wheelchairs and their families and allies know what they are doing, they understand their bodies and limitations. It is not up to you to decide what they can do. It's called DISCRIMINATION!

Went to speed world it was great. But nextdoor is the bay and perfect fishing spot. Caught my 1st shark there. You can crab there also. Big open space.
